Review of Flexicose Liquid JointCare
More than a year ago my 3 elderly dogs were having so much difficulty with their joints that I feared the end was near for 2 of them. In a short time they deteriorated to the point where they struggled awhile just to stand from a sitting position. There’s one step into the house, and one would trip and sprawl in the doorway, unable to rise without help. At the rate they were going, I thought they’d soon reach a point where they’d be unable to stand at all. Both dogs are at their ideal weight, but both have large builds and weigh almost 90 pounds. Currently the Labrador Retriever is 13.5 years old. The other dog is 11, but had a broken hip when young and always had some joint weakness. The third smaller dog, age 12, was just getting creaky and having trouble jumping into the car, etc.
First I tried a veterinarian’s prescription Hill’s Science Diet dog food for Joint Care. Minor but noticeable improvement. The problem with that was that I was tied to feeding them that dog food only, I couldn’t regulate the amount of the vitamin supplement they were receiving without over or under feeding, and it was expensive.
Then I tried Drs. Foster and Smith Joint Care 3 for the 2 dogs with the worst joint trouble, and Joint Care 2 for the 3rd dog. Within several weeks the transformation was just short of a miracle. I can’t say enough good about their product, in terms of how much it helped to transform the life of my dogs, and most likely extended their life span. They still can’t jump into the car without help, but it enabled them to get around without any trouble. My biggest problem is the price. It costs $1.40/day per dog, to give the recommended dosage to the larger dogs.
I hunted around for a cheaper alternative with similar effectiveness, and after reading countless reviews, decided that Flexicose looked like it was the best product available. I didn’t know if the claim about liquid being superior to pill form was hype or not. It made sense, but I’m no scientist. The cost was so much cheaper, even with shipping it’s $1 a day LESS per dog than the Foster & Smith pills, but would it work? I took a chance and ordered the type for humans instead of animals. Their website said the ingredients were exactly the same. Somewhere I read that the animal form had meat flavoring added. My thought was that if the Flexicose didn’t help enough for the 2 worst dogs, maybe it would be ok for a person with mild troubles to use it up.
All I hoped for was to see no decrease in my dog’s abilities. To my surprise, I actually noticed a small amount of improvement! I never expected that, and waited for some time to be sure it wasn’t an anomaly or my imagination. The dog with the bad hip actually trots with a spring in his step now! There’s no denying it, and it’s proof positive that it is what it claims to be, and not just brown liquid. I’m still giving the dogs the higher dosage recommended for the first couple of weeks, and have no idea if their improvement will decrease in time after I switch back to the maintenance dosage. If it does, I guess I can always go back to the beginning dosage again.
Dogs have no idea they’re being given a supplement to help their joints, so there’s no way you can attribute this remarkable improvement to a placebo effect. I dribble the Flexicose on their kibble, and the dogs gobble it all, so I don’t HAVE to buy the animal formula. The vitamin mix in the pills is similar enough to the liquid that there shouldn’t be much of a difference. So I can only conclude that the liquid does have a better bio-availability.
This product not only works, it works better than a high quality pill form, AND it is a small fraction of the price! If I had found Flexicose when I tried the Science Diet dog food and the Joint Care 3 pills, I would have saved more than $1,400 by now. I’m so sorry I didn’t find this product earlier. My income is so low that I was going to cut back to the Joint Care 2 pills for 2 of my dogs, and hope it still helped enough to get by. For my 3 dogs total, it was running about $109/month with the pills. Flexicose at the initial double dosage cost me about $72/month. At the normal maintenance dosage it will be $36/month. (all amounts include shipping) Flexicose has proven to be a dream come true!
